The GROVE is a department of the Associated Students Recycling Program at the University of California, Santa Barbara. The goal of our department is to create an educational space on sustainable practices that can be executed by community members. Our outdoor classroom is designed to be a sustainable landscape that is filled with case studies of organic urban farming techniques and flora native to Santa Barbara.
The GROVE hosts workshops on sustainable gardening methods and is available as meeting space campus organizations. Workshops hosted by the GROVE are free to the public and involve educational tours, farmer lectures, and hands on gardening activities. These workshops are meant to be useful for active gardens and to educate the consumers as to what it means to eat “organic”.As a meeting place the GROVE provides an attractive natural setting with sitting areas that is meant to be more inspiring than white walled meeting rooms.
We have an active blog filled with gardening tips, posts about sustainable events around the community, and updates on Grove activity at Tumblr. Please also join our Facebook group to be involved in our workshops or correspond with our student team.
Check out our upcoming workshops at the Grove!
